Ray Millar confirms his intent to run for municipal office in Tiny Township in 2026 for the position of Councillor
Short Bio:
I have spent much of my life working, serving, and raising my family in Tiny Township. My connection to this community is personal and professional, built over decades of public service, business experience, and community involvement.
I have served Tiny as a Councillor and Mayor and represented the municipality at Simcoe County Council. My municipal staff experience includes serving as Fire Chief and Community Emergency Management Coordinator. Those roles have given me an understanding of municipal government from both sides of the council table.
I am a Certified Municipal Manager III, the highest designation awarded by the Ontario Municipal Management Institute. My education and professional development include municipal law, finance, administration and human resources, dispute resolution studies at York University, and adjudication training through Osgoode Hall Law School Professional Development.
Outside municipal government, I owned and operated a design-build construction firm for more than 30 years. I am a Red Seal carpenter and award-winning homebuilder.
I have also served as a director on the boards of Crime Stoppers, Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, and other community organizations, and have been involved in restorative justice, environmental initiatives, and the effort to protect the Site 41 lands.
Tiny is a community I know well and have had the privilege of serving in many capacities.
At Simcoe County, I was actively involved in the Site 41 issue and helped advance the conservation easement that permanently restricted the property to agricultural use. After leaving County Council, I was invited to continue contributing to the County’s solid waste management work.
My broader community involvement has included service with FACE, a restorative justice program, and Zero Waste Simcoe, along with participation in other local and county-level initiatives.
At the provincial level, I was also an active member of the OPP Municipal Policing Working Group, providing practical exposure to policing governance, service delivery, and municipal funding issues.
I have undertaken professional development through the Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators, complementing my municipal and governance experience.
These experiences have provided practical exposure to county-level government, environmental policy, solid waste management, policing, community advocacy, restorative justice, and public-sector decision-making.Contact Ray Email: millar4council@gmail.com
