Jessie Garland

Area of residence in Tiny Township: Bluewater

Jessie Garland confirms her intent to run for municipal office in Tiny Township in 2026 for the position of Councillor

Short Bio:

I have lived in Tiny since 2003 as a seasonal resident and full time since 2020. I retired in December 2024 after working more than 40 years with various multinational financial institutions and insurance companies. Most of the companies I worked for were publicly traded on various stock exchanges and subject to rigorous reporting rules and financial oversight. Financial transparency and accountability were vitally important.

I was a Senior Commercial Liability Underwriting Specialist, skilled in assessing risk, writing liability contracts, reviewing common law and civil code case law, and analyzing financial statements. From 2015 to 2024, I sat on the Commercial Liability Committee at the Insurance Bureau of Canada. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and the Canadian Securities Course (1988). I am fluent in German with a working knowledge of French.

From the moment I purchased the first house I ever owned in Tiny, I knew I was home. I joined the neighbourhood association to meet people and understand the community. Originally, my involvement was focused on helping to preserve the dunes at Bluewater Beach, but my interests expanded as time passed.

I have been the President of the Bluewater Dunes Ratepayers Corporation since 2016. As President, I listened to residents' concerns and sought solutions by working cooperatively with the township and other stakeholders.Contact Jessie
