John Bryant confirms his intent to run for municipal office in Tiny Township in 2026 for the position of Councillor

Short Bio:

About John

John grew up on a family farm in Whitby, Ontario, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong appreciation for the environment and the importance of responsible stewardship.

That early experience helped shape his education and career. John graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and the University of Toronto with a Diploma and Degree in Landscape Architecture. He went on to build a career spanning more than 35 years in municipal management, working in rapidly growing communities including the City of Vaughan, City of Barrie and Town of Milton.

The Bryant family made Tiny Township their permanent home in 2016 after purchasing a local seasonal cottage and rebuilding it into a home designed to withstand and enjoy Tiny's changing seasons.

Municipal Experience and Community Service

John is proud to have previously served as a Councillor for the Township of Tiny and to have worked alongside residents, municipal staff and Council colleagues who are deeply committed to the community.

His professional career has provided extensive experience in parks and recreation planning, waterfront development, environmental stewardship, community growth, municipal operations, and the management of significant operating and capital budgets.

John has also spent the past eight years serving on Tiny's Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and Heritage Advisory Committee. These roles have provided him with an even deeper understanding of Tiny's communities, its history and the issues that matter most to residents. Throughout his career and community service, John has worked collaboratively with municipal councils, staff, developers and the public to find practical and balanced solutions to complex issues.

Why Is He Running

John is seeking a seat on Council because he believes his municipal experience, local knowledge and commitment to public service can make a meaningful contribution to Tiny Township.

If elected, he will work to:

· Provide thoughtful and responsible leadership on Council

· Help shape municipal policies, programs and priorities

· Bring extensive municipal management experience and practical perspective to Council

· Listen carefully to residents and respond to the needs of our diverse communities

· Promote transparency, accountability and responsible use of taxpayers' dollars

· Work collaboratively to find practical solutions to complex municipal challenges

Tiny Township is facing important decisions. Rising taxes, the new Town Hall project, septage management, and questions surrounding waterfront access and ownership are among the issues that require careful consideration and responsible leadership.

These challenges are significant, but they are manageable with informed decision-making, sound fiscal planning and a willingness to listen to the community. John believes his previous Council experience and more than three decades of municipal management provide him with the knowledge, judgment and determination to contribute constructively to these discussions.

A Commitment to Tiny

If elected, John's approach will be straightforward: listen to residents, act in the public interest, make decisions based on sound information, and work respectfully and collaboratively with Council, staff and the community.

John believes Tiny Township can preserve what makes Tiny special, while planning responsibly for its future. His goal is to help build a stronger, more transparent and united community, while ensuring that decisions made today serve both current residents and future generations.

With your support, John welcomes the opportunity to work with everyone who shares a commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, respectful leadership and putting the interests of the community first.
