Patrick Doherty

Area of residence in Tiny Township: North Tiny

Patrick Doherty confirms his intent to run for municipal office in Tiny Township in 2026 for the position of Councillor (one of three)

Short Bio: Patrick has lived in Tiny Township for 46 years. First visiting as an infant, he was lucky to have many great early childhood memories at Tiny Beaches. Patrick is married with two kids who attended the French-language school in Lafontaine. Patrick has spent his career working in the construction industry.

Over the course of his time living in Tiny Township, Patrick has established connections throughout the community and has developed a well-rounded understanding of the diverse perspectives and challenges faced by residents. In recent years, Patrick has taken an interest in local politics out of concerns that key issues, including the environment, fiscal responsibility, and affordability for families, young people and seniors on fixed incomes, are not being adequately addressed. Patrick has been motivated to participate by a desire to see change for a better future for current community members and future generations.

An avid outdoorsman, Patrick has spent significant time camping and white water canoeing across Ontario, experiences that have deepened his appreciation of nature. He also enjoys spending time walking on the beaches of Tiny.

Relevant background experience: Throughout my career in the construction industry, I have gained extensive experience with the public, developing strong negotiation skills and becoming a highly effective communicator. In my career, I have conducted contract negotiations that required me to carefully listen to clients’ needs and present solutions that fit their requirements. In many cases, successfully closing a deal would require finding a compromise to satisfy all parties involved.

These experiences have equipped me with the ability to develop solutions that address the needs of multiple parties. As a councillor in Tiny Township, I intend on taking this approach by listening carefully to residents, respecting diverse perspectives, and working to find balanced solutions. There will be many groups with different interests, and it will be my responsibility to represent the community and find common ground that reflects the broader interests of all the residents.
